The Benefits of Audio Books

Covering this topic will surely help you to better understand how to deal with similar situations.
Audio books are an alternative to traditional printed books and have a rich and varied history. The first ever was created in 1933 when J.P. Harrington, a renowned anthropologist traveled cross country and recorded the oral history of various Native American tribes using equipment such as aluminum disks and a turntable that was powered by his vehicle's battery. Since then, the audiobook industry has come a long way and even has its own organization -- the APA or Audio Publishers Association.
There are many reasons why people choose the audio version of a book instead of the printed version. Convenience and accessibility are certainly two reasons. If you want to listen to your book while you're driving to work, you can. If you want to listen to your book while you're at the gym working out, you can do that, too. Audio versions of books go more places than printed books ever could.
You'll find that the audio versions of books come in all different types of formats. Years ago, you would find books on vinyl. Then, cassette tapes were all the rage. Audio CDs came next as the preferred way for people to listen to music, books and more. Today, there are even more options thanks to innovations like the MP3 player. You can download the audio versions of books to your MP3 player without ever needing a tape or CD. The Ipod is one example of a popular MP3 player, although you can find others including those that come as part of a cell phone. MP3 players are light, compact, ultra portable and hold lots of material.
Thanks to audio books, you can increase the time spent learning and being entertained. While others are listening to music on their headphones or in their cars, you can be listening to educational material or a bestselling book. The recorded book makes it easy to multitask and accomplish more than you ever thought you could. Not sure where to start with your audiobook collection? Try an international bestseller like The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown or any of the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling. Or, go for a nonfiction book on a subject you're interested in. Students can even learn their curriculum via audio material. You'll be amazed at how versatile and helpful the audio book can be!

Today's Tip On Audio Books
The unabridged audio book version contains every last word from the book, just as it was released in print. An abridged audio book version will have been edited to one extent or another. In some cases, this editing is either done by the author or under their supervision. In other instances, a publisher who purchased the rights to the book has free reign to edit the work at their discretion. |
